Droid Bionic Launch Date Leaked, Just Over 2 Weeks Away? July 16, 2011 No Comments

So…This is huge. Looks like we’ve finally got what appears to be a concrete release date for the Droid Bionic by Motorola. Even crazier than having it though, is the date itself – August 4th. While everyone was basically expecting this phone some time this summer, late August was the general consensus.

Furthermore, the Bionic was delayed, delayed, and delayed some more, leaving us all half-expecting it to not be out until fall. With a normal phone delayed this much, we’d be a little wary of the specs, as all too often a phone’s release will be pushed back due to contract negotiations or some other business function, and the phone won’t be updated in the meantime. Then, when the phone releases, its specs are already out of date. The Bionic though, appears to be a different story. Supposedly, the Bionic was delayed when the iPhone 4 came out, in order to be able to better compete with what Motorola felt will be the Bionic’s competition, which we hope Moto knows is the iPhone 5.

For the ridiculously good specs on the phone, click through to the full story!

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Launching in the UK June 26, 2011 No Comments

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 UK ReleaseWe told you last week that Verizon was going to start carrying Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 in July, and it looks like we’ve got even more news coming your way regarding the iPad 2′s big competitor.

Samsung has now made it official that the tablet will be available in the UK in both 3G and Wifi variations on August 4th, 2011 in stores across the UK. Launching with Android’s newest Honeycomb OS (3.1) and a dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processer, the UK version will also rock an HSPA 3G radio, or if you’re in the US, 4G.

Check out the links above to remind yourself about all that is the Galaxy Tab 10.1, and then tell us, will you be picking one up? Or are you waiting for the next, next big thing?

Verizon to start selling Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in July June 15, 2011 No Comments

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1Droid-Life was reporting last week that a Verizon Wireless rep had announced that Samsung’s Galaxy S II would be available through the carrier come July. Well, it looks like the rep was mistaken, and that wasn’t quite the case. What is face, however, is that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 (head here for our details on this new Samsung tablet…) from Samsung will be for sale come July, and frankly, this news is just as good.

Giving us no exact date is a little annoying, but who are we to complain? If you recall, we’re talking about the thinnest tablet on the market to date, a 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and Google’s Honeycomb 3.1, making it right on par with Motorola’s fully updated Xoom, but right from out of the box.

So are you waiting until July for your tablet purchase, or do you already have an iPad 2 anyway? Let us know in the comments, or give us a shout on Twitter!

Droid 3 Reviewed…Uh-oh… June 14, 2011 2 Comments

Droid 3 from XDA ChinaLooks like XDA China has gotten their paws on a Droid 3 early…And the reviews aren’t as good we hoped. While the processor performed well, and the new version of Motoblur is definitely a go, it looks like Motorola skimped in a couple of all too important areas.

First, the screen. Motorola has apparently outfitted the Droid 3 (or Milestone 3, depending on what country you live in) with a Pentile screen. This same screen has gotten negative reviews across the board, as you can basically see pixels (not actual pixels, but that’s how it appears) once you zoom in at all to something like, say, a website. Video is also particularly bad on these. An even bigger deal though, and frankly an extreme disappointment, is the internal spec that’s lacking.

4G LTE Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Announced by Verizon June 7, 2011 2 Comments

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1Well, well, well! Looks like we’re inching ever closer to the release of the latest (and by far greatest so far) Android tablet. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has been revered as one of the slickest tablet experiences to date, competing head-to-head-with the iPad 2. Looks like we’ll see this one in stores tomorrow, 6/8, with 4G LTE on board.

While Apple may have hooked up their iPad (and other iOS devices) with a batch of new features yesterday, they aren’t available as of yet, and if you’ve got an Android phone, you may want to stay on the platform! So check out the remaining specs for this beast after the break!

What is supposedly an actual Motorola Droid 3 has been leaked in the wild, and it appears to be quite the super phone. (While we’ve got official word on these guys, remember that so far this is a rumor, but seems to be a pretty reliable on at this point.) Sporting a 4″ (noticeably bigger than the Droid and Droid 2′s 3.7″) qHD screen, giving it not only great screen real estate with good resolution, but also the ability to have a bigger, keyboard with more keys and more space. And its been put to good use, with the Droid 3 keyboard having a dedicated number row at the top.

Slew of new phones available tomorrow, May 26th, on Verizon May 25, 2011 1 Comment

Verizon Wireless LogoSo we basically got a blizzard of phone release date announcements in the past week, and surprise, surprise, they’ll all be up for sale at Verizon Wireless stores nation wide at the same time next week. While we knew these phones were coming some time this spring or summer, none had official release dates until now, and we certainly didn’t expect them to release those dates so near to the actual day the phones will be up for sale.

Guess Verizon and company aren’t trying to hype these phones up too much, which makes me wonder, what’s coming that they’re waiting for? Regardless, read on for the phones that were released and a little about each to help you decide on your next phone!

SUPER fast LTE Phone from LG coming to Verizon in the first half of 2011? October 26, 2010 2 Comments

LG made waves on Sunday (although not on purpose) by having their brand new phone leaked.  The big news here is not the even the leak of the phone though, no, its much bigger than that.  The actual news here is that the phone appears to have an LTE logo on its back.  What we may be looking at here is one of the first LTE phones to go live on Verizon next year.  Verizon has been sticking to their timeframe of going active with their LTE network in over 30 major US cities in the first half of 2011, and of course in order to do that they’ll need devices for people to use on it.  The speeds of the LTE network are supposed to be pretty crazy, at around 50 to 60mbps download speeds.  For reference, that’s likely faster than your home’s internet connection.

The phone appears to have an HD camera on the back, meaning HD videos on the go.  It also looks like it may have a front facing camera in the top right corner of the front.  As this is rumored to be an Android device, this would be some nice competition to the iPhone’s FaceTime app.  Between Skype and Yahoo! Messenger, you’re likely to see some features that its iOS counterpart lacks, like cross-platform chat. (For more on FaceTime, see our FaceTime for Mac Beta review here.)

Are you as excited as we are for the LTE network to go live?  Do you think this network is what Apple has been waiting for to bring the iPhone to Verizon?  Or are Android phone’s officially Verizon’s “iPhone” for the time being?  Sound off in the comments!
