Slew of new phones available tomorrow, May 26th, on Verizon
So we basically got a blizzard of phone release date announcements in the past week, and surprise, surprise, they’ll all be up for sale at Verizon Wireless stores nation wide at the same time next week. While we knew these phones were coming some time this spring or summer, none had official release dates until now, and we certainly didn’t expect them to release those dates so near to the actual day the phones will be up for sale.
Guess Verizon and company aren’t trying to hype these phones up too much, which makes me wonder, what’s coming that they’re waiting for? Regardless, read on for the phones that were released and a little about each to help you decide on your next phone!

HTC Trophy
First up, the HTC Trophy. Verizon’s first (as well as HTC’s newest) Windows Phone 7 device, this phone brings a slightly outdated version of Windows Phone 7 to one of the United States’ top carriers. With a 3.8″ screen, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, and 16GB of internal storage built-in, the phone is no slouch on specs. The phone can be had for $149.99 on contract, after the requisite mail-in rebate.
Sony Xperia Play
Next on the most wanted list is Sony’s Xperia Play. The so-called (and
long rumored) PlayStation phone, the Xperia Play can be yours for $199.99 on contract. With a real D-pad and full PlayStation controls, you’ll be able to really get to work on the seven preloaded PlayStation games, including The Sims 3 and Madden ’11. With a 4″ display, 1GHz Snapdragon II Processor under the hood, and front facing camera for video chat, the Xperia Play is going to be a serious contender.
Motorola Droid X2
The latest in the Droid line of phones, the aptly named Droid X2 carries on the large screen legacy of its predecessor, the Droid X. With a behemoth 4.3 inch screen, Android 2.2 (Froyo) with plans to upgrade it to 2.3 (Gingerbread,) a qHD screen, dual-core 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, and HDMI out. If you’re a fan of big screens, movies (either watching on your phone or sending them out to TV’s,) or super fast phones, the DX2 might be your next phone.
LG Revolution
And last, but not least, the LG Revolution. With a 4.3 inch screen like it’s release buddy the Droid X2, a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, front and rear cameras, 16GB of included SD card storage, HDMI out, and 4G LTE, this device is one to reckoned with. While the downsides are Android 2.2 and Bing search on board, they may be outweighed by the included Netflix app and the Wireless Charging that appears to be coming to the device, depending on your preferences.
