HTC Announces the EVO 3D…Killer specs, plus 3D

HTC EVO 3DYesterday Sprint announced their new hotness…The 4G EVO 3D, coming this summer. Aside from being a part of their increasingly popular EVO line of phones, the EVO 3D (even if you ignore the gimmicky new 3D technology) has the specs to stand apart on its on.

From a pure speed standpoint, this thing should be setting benchmark records across the board. With a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor (the EVO 3D being the first phone to get this chip,) a full gigabyte of RAM, and Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) running the show, this should easily be one of the snappiest Android phones on the market.

Click through for the rest of the base specs, and some details on the phone’s (coveted?) 3D capabilities.

In addition to the speed boost this thing will get from the RAM and processor speeds, the phone should look gorgeous. With a decently large 4.3″ qHD screen and HTC’s Sense 2.1 (Hopefully to be updated to the newer Sense 3.0) the phone should look as gorgeous as any out there. While HTC’s design has become relatively standard, at least its simple and clean, almost reminding me of some of their Windows Phone desings.

As for cameras, the EVO 3D has a standard 1.3MP front facing camera for video chat and the like. The back of the phone though, is where is gets interesting. The EVO 3D features dual 5MP cameras, allowing you to shoot video in 3D, for playback on its glasses-free 3D screen. While this feature may be a bit gimmicky, it does seem to be catching on, and having it never hurts as long as you can choose whether to use it or not, which you should be able to.

To top it all off this is another 4G EVO, giving it significantly faster internet speeds than any of the 3G phones in areas that have 4G coverage.

So you tell us…Is this enough to switch to Sprint for? Or do you need more? For those of you on Sprint, how long until you switch over to this beast? Tell us in the comments!
